Summary
The basic summary of this book is that "Given the qualities mentioned in Romans 15:14 and Colossians 3:16, plus the proper convictions about counseling, and Christian worker may become a helpful counselor in the place where God has called him to serve."(Adams, p. 268) Not to say that they won't encounter those "special cases" that require a Christian counselor with more experience, or a doctor(preferrably a believer). In keeping Christ at the center of counseling, one may reject the methodologies of non-believers since they make their judgments completely apart from God. Since Christ is the center of counseling, let us resolve to be the most thoroughly competent counselors that can be found.(Adams, p.270)

Scripture
Romans 15:4 4For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
Colossians 3:16 16Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.
